One of the panels I suggested for SXSW 2007 has been selected to be part of next spring’s event. It’s called “Designing for Convergent Devices”. My initial description went like this:
How do you provide a consistent user experience across various devices (web, TV, handhelds, cell phones) that reinforces the concept of convergent services? A panel of design experts discuss the goals and benefits of creating a consistent user experience, and examine the challenges that lie in presenting those services across mediums.
Now I’m looking for that “panel of design experts” that will put on a great discussion. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, this year the process of picking panels was driven in part by voting from the masses. I don’t know how much the voting figured into the final selection. I did notice today, however, that a panel from longtime participant Marc Canter (interactconnecting social networks together) didn’t get selected. Oh well, Marc, as you said, there’s always Salt Lick!

Hey! I’m a software engineer working for Palm on some of their future products, and I’m also author of a book on web applications for Palm OS handhelds and former lead for CodeWarrior for Palm OS. I also live here in Austin
I’d be interested in participating and talking about smartphones, especially since Palm now has both Palm OS and Windows Mobile devices in our roster.

You might try the folks over at Varsity Media Group. They provide an online, wireless and television platform of programming created by teens and targeted toward teens. Kelly Hoffman, CEO, is a great speaker.
For full disclosure, I used to do some PR work for them, but I don’t any more — this is not a PR pitch. I really do think what they are doing is interesting and Kelly always told the most interesting stories. I’ve actually thought about getting him to speak in one of my classes about convergence.
